Very famous song. All the possible questions, came to the mind of lover when he is in doubt. This is always the case of real life, since no one knows the future ahead and at the same time don't want to lose love. The song is the perfect picture of doubtful mind.
I think, if one love someone honestly, one will receive the same. Else if One is loving and not receiving love, One have to believe and One will receive love. To love means to trust, to believe, honestly.

It is true that love hurts a lot, when One fails with, and even when One wins and accepting n expecting love on One's own terms. Happiness and Pain are One's own states of mind. Love in it's pure form is unconditional and hence neither happiness nor Pain. It is One's wisdom that make One see things as they are.
Furthermore, If One is student and opportunistic by heart, One will convert knowledge gained by experience into Wisdom and explore more love out of One's remaining life to live life more passionately. I guess this is the theme of novel Brida by Paulo Coelho.
